With BOLTCALC™ there are no more stacks of specifications to plow through or lengthy formulas to solve. Choose the application, insert just one parameter, and BOLTCALC™ will do the rest! READ MORE >>>

BOLTCALC™ Software

User Friendly Engineering Software Lets You Calculate Bolt Load, Gasket Stress, Torque and Tension in Bolted Joints.

A Typical Application Process as Shown in the Figure Below

Indicate a flange type, ANSI or API and fastener type, studs or bolts. Then select the flange class (900#) and flange size (ANSI 10" - 900# RF). After the flange class is chosen, BOLTCALC™ offers only those applicable flange sizes from which to choose. At this point, BOLTCALC™ has automatically calculated and displayed the joint characteristics on the right side of the screen: fastener and grip length, number of fasteners, fastener diameter, nut height, yield strength, and threads per inch. These characteristics may be easily modified for special applications by using the appropriate scroll bar.

Select a gasket type. For ANSI flanges there are choices between flat or spiral wound gaskets; with or without backup rings. For API flanges the choices include all ring joint gaskets that fit the selected range.

Choose the fastener material (ASTM A193-B7). A range of materials is offered with the option to insert any material for which the yield strength and modulus of elasticity are known. BOLTCALC™ even offers various installation conditions to enable the user to choose a K factor (.16). The K factor relates torque to bolt load for specific conditions.

To calculate the critical parameters, input one of the eight parameters (50.0 percent of yield) and press enter. The remaining 7 parameters are calculated and displayed. If the gasket stress is greater or less than recommended, a warning appears. A warning also appears if the calculated bolt load exceeds the yield strength of the fastener.

With BOLTCALC™ there are no more stacks of specifications or lengthy formulas to solve. Choose the application, insert one parameter, and BOLTCALC™ does the rest. It is a library of bolting information at your fingertips. IT'S SIMPLE & EFFECTIVE.

  • Select your bolted joint specification, enter your known parameter, and let BOLTCALC™ do the rest!
  • Will convert between English and Metric Units at any time during the program.
  • Available for WINDOWS 3.1 or higher.
  • All ANSI & API flange characteristics are in BOLTCALC™ memory.
